Effect of Groove Texture on Deformation and Sealing Performance of Engine Piston Ring

During the present study, a double groove texture was designed on surface of piston ring to improve sealing performance between and cylinder liner. The experimental design method used fabricate test plan according width, depth, spacing. By using thermal–structural coupling analysis method, finite element standard textured carried out simulate deformation state liner system group during working stroke. rings with different parameters by scheme were manufactured wire electrical discharge machining, self-made experiment device test. results showed that could ring, analyzed demonstrated had little effect maximum ring. Still, it significantly reduce minimum group. A would work test, average No.7 group, depth 1 mm, width 0.5 spacing 0.1 smallest, about 29.6% lower than best, reduction rate top gas leakage 52.18%. improved designing grooved structure surface, thereby improving fuel economy power engine. study provide reference for engineering field high performance.
